Christa L. Hall

(1928 – 2024)

Christa L. Hall was a native of Marion, AL and a graduate of Perry County High School. After earning her B.S. Degree in Home Economics from the University of Alabama in 1950, she worked 35 years as a Colbert County Extension Agent as well as serving as a devoted teacher of 4-H classes throughout the county. A former pastor from Tuscumbia Methodist Church remembered Christa at her memorial service. “I was a scared young man in Cherokee Elementary. We were to do a presentation that required speaking. A gracious young women helped me with my project and encouraged my practice. That was Christa Hall. Today I am retired from a lifetime of public speaking from a podium in front of a congregation. It is all thanks to her encouragement all those years ago.” Christa was active in the National Association of Extension Family and Consumer Science – Alabama Chapter. She served on committees and as an officer to the local chapter. She mentored many young home economists across the state, giving them advice on programs and helping them with reports. Christa was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. After retiring she enjoyed serving on several mission trips as well as sightseeing trips with her local church groups. She loved gardening, antiquing, and spending time at the beach in Gulf Shores, AL. In recognition of her years of service, the name Christa L. Hall is inscribed on the dedicatory plaque of the Extension Memorial Chapel. Chapel Plaque Inscription Number 681
