(1937 – 2021)
Harold Watson was born in Crew Lake, Louisiana. He received his BS and MS in Ag Engineering from Louisiana State University.
He spent the majority of his career working for the Alabama Cooperative Extension System at Auburn University, providing his extension knowledge and expertise to poultry and swine farmers not only in the state of Alabama but also the Southeast.
Harold was also an entrepreneur owning three small businesses in Auburn for almost 30 years.
He had many interests. He enjoyed deer and turkey hunting but also could be found fishing the surrounding lakes and rivers. He had a passion for woodworking that led to him being an integral part of starting the woodworking program in 4-H. He created everything from wooden keychains to Grandfather clocks…much from the wood he sourced locally.
He also enjoyed many years of singing in the church choir and with the Goldsmith Singers, a local barber shop quartet.
In recognition of his years of service, the name Harold Watson is inscribed on the dedicatory plaque of the Extension Memorial Chapel.
