In remembrance …

Annie Ruth Young

(1920 – 1972)

Because she was diligent and faithful to the task, coworkers of Annie Ruth Young made sure she would be honored in the Memorial Chapel.

Born in Centre, Alabama, on February 22, 1920, Annie graduated from Cedar Bluff High School. Receiving her diploma in 1939, she felt ready to find a job that suited her interests.

After many years, a marriage, and family, Mrs. Young found a position she really enjoyed as Program Assistant in the EFNEP (Expanded Foods and Nutrition Education Program) with the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service in Cherokee County. She had just completed two and a half years in this position when she died.

Those she helped and those she worked with all loved and admired Annie. It was with great sorrow that they said goodbye to her. In recognition of her dedication to the job, the name Annie
Ruth Young is inscribed on the dedicatory plaque of the Extension Memorial Chapel.
