Maybelle T. Meadows

(1913 – 1986)

Mrs. Maybelle Trawick Meadows was born in Tuskegee Institute, Alabama, on July 5, 1913. Maybelle retired from her work with the Extension Service on December 31, 1968. Mrs. Meadows graduated from Tuskegee Institute High School in 1932. After graduation from high school, she enrolled at Tuskegee Institute, receiving a B.S. degree in 1937.

Maybelle worked several years as a teacher in Georgia and Alabama. Her employment as a secretary in the state office at Tuskegee Institute for the Alabama Cooperative Service began in June 1948.

Mrs. Meadows gave 20 years of efficient and dedicated service to the extension service. She will be remembered for her smiling face and always being ready to do a good job with any task assigned to her.

In tribute to her life’s work, the name of Maybelle T. Meadows is inscribed on the dedicatory plaque of the Extension Memorial Chapel.
