Solonia E. Reynolds

(1914 – 2011)

Solonia Elizabeth Reynolds was born on May 12, 1914, and passed away on August 22, 2011, after a lifetime of public service. She had graduated from Drury High school and earned her B.S. degree from Alabama A&M University and her M.S. degree from Tuskegee University.

Ms. Reynolds began her career as a teacher in the Talladega County School System before becoming a County Extension Agent, and eventually the County Extension Coordinator in Wilcox County.

In addition to her many work responsibilities, Ms. Reynolds was active in many professional, civic and social organizations through the years. During her years with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, she was a charter member of the Alabama Cooperative Extension Employees Organization, Inc., and an active member of the organization, which is now the National Extension Association for Family and Consumer Science. She was an active member of NEAFCS and represented Alabama at national conferences when possible, even in retirement.

Following her retirement in Wilcox County, Ms. Reynolds moved to Childersburg, where she resided until moving to the Talladega Healthcare Center.

For her dedication to helping others learn to improve their lives, Epsilon Sigma Phi places the name of Solonia Elizabeth Reynolds on the dedicatory plaque of the Extension Memorial Chapel.
